The painting demonstrates Célice's ability to transform a limited palette into an image of remarkable visual complexity and rhythm. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCélice (1932–2019) had his first success at the Galerie Simone Badinier in the 1950s before turning fully to abstraction in the early 1970s, developing a distinctive vocabulary of cut, layered coloured paper set over gestural acrylic.
