Description

This elegant Art Deco two-seater Tulip Chair, originally from Hotel Le Malandre in France, is a rare example of the distinctive seating produced for the hotel during the 1930s. Designed with a beautifully curved, flower-shaped silhouette, sculptural lines and generous proportions, the chair reflects the refined yet expressive character of French Art Deco.

The original designer and manufacturer remain unknown, as was often the case with bespoke furniture created specifically for hotels at the time. Authentic examples are occasionally identified by a small plaque reading “Hôtel Le Malandre – Modèle Déposé”, further connecting these distinctive chairs to their original setting.

Characterised by their low profile, enveloping form, solid wooden frame and richly detailed front panel, the Tulip Chairs combine sculptural presence with comfort. This two-seater has been carefully reupholstered in Alcantara, a luxurious and highly durable microfibre known for its soft, suede-like texture, giving the piece a contemporary finish while preserving its original Art Deco character.

The sofa is in good pre-loved condition, showing only minor signs of age and use consistent with its history.
