Description
The Freeform Sofa was originally designed in 1946 by Isamu Noguchi, one of the most influential and unconventional designers of the 20th century. This sculptural masterpiece differs completely from other designs of its time and reflects Noguchi’s sculptural design language, blurring the boundaries between art, design, and architecture. The Freeform Sofa resembles flat, rounded river stones. The elegant, organic shapes are fluid and graceful. Noguchi further emphasizes this natural effect with comfortable fabric upholstery in natural colors. His designs are considered a translation of the East for Western audiences.
The Freeform Sofas were produced in limited quantities around 1950. Since 2002, the original design has been manufactured in an authentic reissue by Vitra. The sofa is ideally suited for residential interiors, but also for lobbies and office environments.
You’re lucky: this piece from 2011, upholstered in a refined green-grey fabric, is in excellent condition.
