Among the largest works from Célice's late oeuvre, this painting reflects the extraordinary vitality that characterised his final years. Monumental black linear structures are filled with luminous yellow fields, creating an intricate network of forms that appears to expand beyond the edges of the canvas.

Collaged elements enrich the surface while reinforcing the dialogue between construction and improvisation. The painting demonstrates Célice's ability to transform a limited palette into an image of remarkable visual complexity and rhythm.

Célice (1932–2019) had his first success at the Galerie Simone Badinier in the 1950s before turning fully to abstraction in the early 1970s, developing a distinctive vocabulary of cut, layered coloured paper set over gestural acrylic. His paintings are held in the collections of the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the French national contemporary art fund.
