Description
This exceptional three-seater sofa from the Veranda series, designed in the 1980s by Vico Magistretti for Cassina, is a standout example of Italian postmodern innovation.
The sofa consists of three separate seat elements with adjustable backrests. Two have adjustable seating angles and rest on a semi-circular black lacquered base. The two end chairs rotate inwards at 90 degrees, allowing the piece to transform into three facing lounge chairs with two side tables. The backrests can also be folded down to become a low-backed sofa.
Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was one of Italy’s most influential architects and designers. Known for his minimalist yet expressive approach, he created enduring works for brands like Cassina, Artemide, and Kartell. His designs often marry form with function, and the Veranda sofa is a brilliant example—transforming with you, without ever compromising on aesthetics.
This design classic is in excellent condition. The beautiful black Italian leather has a lovely patina, and the mechanisms work perfectly.
