Description
This iconic Tulip dining table, designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll, is one of the most celebrated examples of mid-century design. Produced in 1960 and marked “164,” the table features a striking white marble round top, showcasing its timeless natural veining, resting on Saarinen’s signature pedestal base in white coated metal.
Eero Saarinen, the renowned Finnish-American architect and designer, wanted to reinvent furniture by eliminating the visual clutter of traditional legs. His radical solution was the Tulip series: a flowing, sculptural design supported by a single, elegant base.
Knoll, the celebrated American furniture manufacturer, is known for bringing together the work of groundbreaking designers such as Saarinen, Florence Knoll, Mies van der Rohe, and Harry Bertoia. Their commitment to craftsmanship and innovation is reflected in the Tulip series produced with meticulous attention paid to material quality and structural integrity.
This dining table is in good preloved condition and comes as part of a complete set with six matching Tulip side chairs, all crafted to complement each other as a cohesive ensemble.
